Clinical decision-making and therapeutic approaches in osteopathy - a qualitative grounded theory study.

摘要: There is limited understanding of how osteopaths make decisions in relation to clinical practice. The aim this research was construct an explanatory theory the decision-making and therapeutic approaches experienced UK. Twelve UK registered participated constructivist grounded qualitative study. Purposive theoretical sampling used select participants. Data collected using semi-structured interviews which were audio-recorded transcribed. As study approached sufficiency, participants observed video-recorded during a patient appointment, followed by video-prompted interview. Constant comparative analysis analyse code data. resulted construction three qualitatively different characterised their practice, termed; Treater, Communicator Educator. Participants' approach influenced decision-making, level involvement, interaction with patients, goals. overall conception practice lay on continuum ranging from technical rationality professional artistry, contributed approach. A range factors identified participants' findings indicate that there variation osteopaths' are This provides first osteopaths.
