摘要: Abstract Two kinds of billetless thixoforming processes were devised in the present study. One process employed a cooling slope, and other exploited low superheat casting. In former process, molten metal was poured down an inclined slope order to generate semisolid slurry. The slurry flowed solidified into die located at bottom end slope. latter utilizing casting, melt directly solidified. need produce ingot for further processing by can be eliminated since shaped state synchronizing pouring with operation. size easily varied accordingly appropriate choice ladle die. is very simple, compact cheap piece equipment associated running costs. primary crystals test pieces generated course this study spheroidal, general morphology microstructures, when heated up condition, similar microstructures obtained conventional casting routes. mechanical properties produced from ingots cast products made thixoforming. Tensile strengths 293 MPa 15% elongation after T6 heat treatment.
