摘要: Objective: Inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) are the most effective medications available for patients with persistent asthma of all severities and currently recommended as preferred controller therapy by National Heart, Lung Blood Institute, Nevertheless, lingering concerns about potential adverse systemic effects ICSs contribute to their underuse. This review discusses safety respect concern physicians patients. Methods: Articles reporting on in children adults were identified from Medline database January 1966 through December 2003, reference lists articles international respiratory meetings. Results: Ocular ICS bone mineral density adrenal function minimal maintained doses. One-year growth studies have shown decreased velocity ICSs, but long-term inhaled budesonide beclomethasone show no effect final adult height, suggesting that these transient. In addition, extensive data Swedish Medical Birth Registry increased risk perinatal outcomes when is administered pregnant women asthma. Conclusions: taken at The benefits clearly outweigh risks uncontrolled asthma, should be prescribed routinely first-line disease.
