摘要: Abstract The mechanism of thin film lubrication sliding point contacts AISI 52100 steel has been studied as a function load, speed, composition and temperature the lubricant. Below certain critical combinations Hertzian pressure, speed surfaces are kept apart by an elastohydrodynamic lubricant film. load carrying capacity this depends primarily on effective viscosity in contact region which decreases with bulk oil increasing because friction induced thermal effects. After breakdown EHD film, boundary may still prevent severe adhesive wear. transition from lubricated regime towards wear is (normal force), possibly conjunction temperature. Irrespective initial condition, oxidation leads to (re)establishment low friction, mild conditions.
