摘要: © JLO (1984) Limited 2015. Background: Tissue engineering using biocompatible scaffolds, with or without cells, can permit surgeons to restore structure and function following tissue resection in cases of congenital abnormality. Tracheal regeneration has emerged as a spearhead application these technologies, whilst regenerative therapies are now being developed treat most other diseases within otolaryngology. Methods results: A systematic review the literature was performed Ovid Medline Embase, from database inception 15 November 2014. total 561 papers matched search criteria, 76 fulfilling inclusion criteria. Articles were predominantly pre-clinical animal studies, reflecting current status research this field. Several key human articles identified discussed. Conclusion: The main issues facing surgery translation model work into models, increasing stem cell availability so it be used further research, development better facilities enable implementation advances.
