Perspectives on Energy in the People's Republic of China

摘要: Study of the Chinese energy situation poses a difficult task. No systematic statistics have been published by since 1960; reliance on newspaper articles, various news agency releases, radio broadcasts, occasional specialized publications, and bits information brought out visitors does not enable analyses forecasts comparable to those available for developed nations other major developing countries (India, Brazil, Mexico). The rather infrequent past development--comprehensive or sectoral--have recently augmented studies benefitting from an increased flow People's Republic China; but it is still difficult, frustrating, risky task offer reasonably reliable image China's system. This review, within these constraints, presents following: resources; fossil-fuel production power generation; consumption; modern technology; intermediate-scale foreign trade in commodities; equipment; continental shelf controversy; future balance. 6 tables, 4 figures, 67 references.
