摘要: Abstract Background Changes in reproductive hormones during menopause are associated with accumulation of intra-abdominal adipose tissue (IAAT), a subclinical indicator cardiometabolic disease risk. Independent hormones, unhealthy lifestyle contributes to IAAT gain. The Women the Southside Health and Fitness (WISHFIT) Study aims develop approach slowing as women begin menopausal transition. Methods primary aim is conduct proof-of-concept test multi-component, multi-level behavioral intervention targeting jointly physical activity, diet, psychological well-being. Participants attend group sessions over 2 years experiment healthy living through both experiential didactic learning, cultivate health network, draw on community resources sustain change. endpoint 2-year progression, assessed using computerized tomography. Behavioral targets treatment secondary endpoints will be evaluated at 6, 12, 18 24 months. Change social networks support years. Results WISHFIT recruited 71 pre- peri-menopausal Caucasian African American (mean ± SD age = 47.6 ± 3.4 yrs; BMI = 33.6 ± 7.3 kg/m2; 52% American). Baseline was 2104.1 ± 1201.3 cm3. IAAT, BMI, self-reported family income resilience differed by ethnicity baseline. Conclusions aimed producing sustained improvement well-being early transition slow menopause-related IAAT. It provides model for process developing manage chronic disease.
