摘要: The acquisition and development of the infant microbiome are key to establishing a healthy host-microbiome symbiosis. maternal microbial reservoir is thought play crucial role in this process. However, source transmission routes pioneering microbes poorly understood. To address this, we longitudinally sampled 25 mother-infant pairs across multiple body sites from birth up 4 months postpartum. Strain-level metagenomic profiling showed rapid influx at birth followed by strong selection during first few days life. Maternal skin vaginal strains colonize only transiently, continues acquire distinct sources after birth. gut strains proved more persistent ecologically better adapted than those acquired other sources. Together, these data describe mother-to-infant that integral microbiome.
