摘要: Tunisian bentonites were used to prepare three modified clays: two organoclays by intercalating respectively didodecyldimethylammoniumbromide (DDMAC) and hexadecyltrimethylammoniumbromide (HDTMAC), synthesis of NaX zeolite. The X-ray diffraction, infrared thermogravimetric analyses enabled us differentiate between the structures obtained. Clay materials systems as adsorbent for investigation adsorption isotherms saturation capacity O-xylene, a toxic volatile organic compound, gravimetric method at different temperatures 20, 30, 40 °C. absolute values compound adsorbed amounts in intercalated clays (604 mg g−1) higher than zeolite (296 mg g−1). analysed Freundlich Langmuir equations. latter was found describe better equilibrium data. Mass transfer coefficient O-xylene is evaluated using uptake curve method, all are order 10−2 s−1. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
