摘要: Cr2BeO4 is orthorhombic with the olivine (Mg2SiO4) type of crystal structure. Previous magnetic susceptibility, neutron diffraction and AFMR measurements have revealed that compound undergoes an antiferromagnetic transition at about 28°K, probably to a noncollinear spin arrangement. More accurate powder data now been obtained 4.5°K 1.1 2.5 A neutrons which reveal structure cycloidal spiral having propagation vector directed along c axis (Pbnm orientation). The periodicity 65 A, roughly 12 times unit cell length in this direction. observed intensities are accounted for reasonably well by simple model there modulation basic arrangement consisting G mode on Cr(I) inversion sites coupled Cr(II) mirror sites. moments lie ac plane, additional phase factor 90° between Cr ions two kinds site.
