摘要: The City of Winona is a small urban center (27,500 people) in southeastern Minnesota. Located along the Mississippi River, city nestled below steep bluffs that limit further development. Winona’s riverine location has been shaping its economy for past 150 years, enriching culture and history persists to present day. In addition, area’s fragile karst geology focused attention on management protection soil water resources since early-settlement days. Consequently, sustainable development become solid cultural construct within community several decades. Citizens have striving achieve life style through on-going conservation efforts, continuing make distinctive tourist destination Upper Midwest region US. Our work sustainability objectives (or indicators) be achieved, specifically agriculture, composting, parks green areas conservation, landscaping attract pollinators species, quality, tourism, recycling. participates County’s recycling program, which one state’s top programs citizens’ participation volume recyclable materials per capita. This chapter will illustrate both challenges opportunities pursuing based seven indicators listed above.
