摘要: Abstract Clays are ubiquitous substances, some of which (talcum, kaolinite, smectites, fibrous clays) have been used since very ancient times for their therapeutic effects. This chapter focuses on the use clays (sepiolite and palygorskite or attapulgite) as active components and/or excipients in pharmaceutical formulations cosmetics. In particular, they exhibit antidiarrhoeal antacid activity when administered orally solid liquid preparations (tablets suspensions). Fibrous also adsorbents protectors topical systemic treatment of, example, acne, leg ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease renal failure. Palygorskite sepiolite worldwide non-parenteral licenced medicines included FDA Inactive Ingredient Guide oral dosage forms (powders tablets). They fulfil several functional categories excipients, including diluents, glidants, disintegrants adsorbents. semi-solid preparations, act suspending agents to prevent settling separation medications. mainly cosmetic products give skin opaqueness, eliminate shine cover up imperfections. employed deodorants, dry shampoos bath powders absorb humidity odours, avoiding irritation. Finally, apart from these traditional applications, described drug carriers modified delivery systems.
