Polite, Well-dressed and on Time: Secondary School Conduct Codes and the Production of Docile Citizens*

摘要: Cet article analyse la Loi sur securite dans les ecoles de l'Ontario (2000) ainsi que codes conduite des commissions scolaires et secondaires regions Niagara Toronto. L'auteure examine comment ces sont organises, justifies presentes aux eleves. En meme temps, elle essaie savoir a quel genre d'eleves (et d'adolescents) ils s'adressent, type creent, particulierement sous l'angle citoyens futurs travailleurs. Les lieux production du qui faconnent le genre, normes statut classe moyenne citoyens. Ils marginalisent egalement ceux ne s'y conforment pas facilement. De plus, suggerent gouvernance jeunes au moyen leur capacite d'agir l'autoregulation en resulte, accompagnees techniques d'approche descendante. This paper examines Ontario's Safe Schools Act (2000), and the of conduct school boards high schools in Toronto regions. I investigate how these are organized, justified presented to students and, process, what kind (and adolescents) assumed created, particularly terms citizens future workers. Codes sites knowledge production, fashioning middle-class, normative, gendered citizens, marginalizing those who do not easily conform. These also suggest government young people through their capacity act consequent self-regulation, alongside more “top-down” techniques.
