摘要: Cortical dysplasia has a strong clinical association with epilepsy and mental retardation, but the relationship between alterations in cortical structure function dysplasia-related disorders is poorly understood. The cerebral cortex of irradiated rats, an experimental model dysplasia, was studied using cresyl violet-stained sections Golgi-Cox method. characterized by reductions size, volume, number neurons fibers reflecting original lethal injury to neuronal precursors. Consequently, only that survived this were able continue their, albeit altered, development. result altered corticogenesis neuronal, fiber circuitry, microvascular alterations. Abnormal aggregates (nodules) excitatory pyramidal dendritic profiles functional territories are found 200 400 microm from pial surface. Their horizontal contrast vertical (columnar) normal neurons. This concentration spiny dendrites and, hence, synaptic contacts suggests response presence abnormal plexus afferent terminals. Stellate neurons, some morphologically compatible inhibitory basket cells, also essential components these nodules. Some nodules rich anastomotic capillaries contrasts sparser vasculature surrounding gray matter tissue. well-vascularized high level metabolic activity. Well-vascularized deep heterotopias found. We propose activity could play role model.
