摘要: Choices of synonymous codons in unicellular organisms are here reviewed, and differences codon usages between Escherichia coli the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae attributed to actual populations isoaccepting tRNAs. There exists a strong positive correlation usage tRNA content both organisms, extent this relates protein production levels individual genes. Codon-choice patterns believed have been well conserved during course evolution. Examination silent substitutions Enterobacteriaceae revealed that evolutionary constraint imposed by on decelerated rather than accelerated silent-substitution rate, at least insofar as pairs taxonomically related were examined. multicellular briefly diversity G+C percentage third position vertebrate genes--as possible causative factor diversity--is discussed.
