Inhibition of Rat Brain Na+, K+-ATPase Activity Induced by Homocysteine Is Probably Mediated by Oxidative Stress

摘要: The objective of the present study was to investigate effects preincubation hippocampus homogenates in presence homocysteine or methionine on Na+, K+-ATPase and Mg2+-ATPase activities synaptic membranes rats. Homocysteine significantly inhibited activity, whereas had no effect. activity not altered by metabolites. We also evaluated effect incubating glutathione, cysteine, dithiothreitol, trolox, superoxide dismutase GM1 ganglioside alone incubation with activity.
