摘要: Recently the North American Symptomatic Carotid Endarterectomy Trial investigators reported a benefit of carotid endarterectomy compared with medical therapy for symptomatic patients 50% or greater stenosis. This has necessitated development screening parameters diagnosis stenosis on basis reference standards used in study by Trial. The duplex scans and arteriograms 110 (210 arteries) were reviewed blinded readers. Duplex measurements peak systolic velocity end diastolic recorded, ratio these velocities internal common arteries was calculated. criteria determined detection as follows: artery than 170 cm/s (sensitivity, 92%; specificity, 90%; positive predictive value, negative accuracy, 91 %); 60 86%; 95%; 79%; to 2 93%; 75%; 83%; 89%; 85%); 2.4 96%; 88%; 89%). It is concluded that can be reliably criteria. use receiver operating characteristic curves allows individualization clinical situation.
