摘要: Objective: Hypothyroidism usually appears in the second decade of life and is thought to be associated with iron overload patients thalassemia major. This study aimed evaluate thyroid dysfunctions beta-thalassemia major an d see if they appear earlier period life. Methods: Thyroid function load status were evaluated 90 children a mean age 7.17±3.78 years by measuring serum free thyroxin (FT4), triiodothyronine (FT3), total (T3), (T4), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) ferritin levels from admitted Pediatric Department, Faculty Medicine University Dicle between March 2005 July 2009. A control group formed age-sex matched healthy 6.98±3.66 was also included. standard thyrotropin releasing test applied 3 who had high TSH classified as subclinical primer hypothyroidism. The designed according Declaration Helsinki informed consent obtained parents all participants. Findings: All parameters normal ranges compared controls except three them which levels. Serum level (2703±1649 ng/mL) significantly higher than (81.5±15.5 ng/mL). Conclusion: work implies that hypothyroidism could even seen first spite improved hematological cares.
