摘要: Habitat fragmentation has raised concerns that populations of generalist predators have increased and are affecting a diverse group prey. Previous research included the use artificial nests to investigate role predation on birds nest or near ground. Because also is major factor limiting freshwater turtles, we examined potential using in identifying factors limit recruitment. We buried eggs northern bobwhites (Colinus virginianus) simulate turtle placed remotely triggered cameras at sample identify predators. Twenty-two percent all were either depredated disturbed within 7 days placement. The proportion decreased with increasing distance from edge ponds. Predation was greater 50 m pond edges than farther edges. Clumped rate scattered nests. Remotely indicated raccoons (Procyon lotor) most frequent Some biases associated avian studies (e.g., lack parental care) might not apply application demography. conclude be useful turtles.
