摘要: Civil engineering is one of the oldest disciplines and has over 5000 years glorious history. However, only recently, in mid 1960s, have attempts been made to consider presence uncertainty civil problems. Structural provided leadership developing necessary mathematics related design guidelines. Several reliability evaluation methods, including Monte Carlo simulation technique, are discussed this chapter elaborated with help examples. A stochastic finite element approach presented estimate reliability, particularly when limit state or performance function implicit. Finally, recent trends use techniques problems discussed. It readily available sophisticated computer programs for analysis. Cognitive sources also need be incorporated. Developments meshless robust optimization techniques, structural health assessment, monitoring, maintenance programs, better prediction future extreme events like earthquake, wind, draught, tornado tsunami, system procedures advocated.
