摘要: The Bolivian government issued a regulation for rabies control in November 2005, owing to increasing the prevalence of dog and human cases recent years. An assessment rabies-vaccination coverage other factors that might influence success on-going vaccination campaign was needed. objective this study investigate risk associated with dogs being unvaccinated against rabies, profiles owned-dog population Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, where endemic. Mainly due logistical reasons, WHO's expanded programme on immunization cluster-survey method used. 390 households were included study. Information about management characteristics obtained 542 from 301 households. On average, had 1.4 1.8 per dog-owning household (median = 1). human-to-dog ratio 4.6 : 1. During last 1 year prior study, 539 aged >or=1 month, 463 (85%; 95% CI 79-91; design effect 3.6) classified as vaccinated. Amongst dogs, 1-11 months higher not vaccinated (OR 8.2; 4.3-15.6; P < 0.01). Almost two-thirds allowed roam freely throughout day or part. Community education efforts should address importance ownership movement restriction, need vaccinate young dogs.
