摘要: Meta-analytical evidence suggests that brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is altered in various psychiatric disorders. However, meta-analyses may be hampered by the heterogeneity of BDNF assays, lack standard values and among populations included studies. To address these issues, our study aimed to test, a ‘true-to-life’ setting, hypothesis serum level nonspecifically reduced acute severe mental illness (SMI) patients increases during inpatient treatment. Consecutive samples 236 inpatients with SMI 100 healthy controls were recruited. includes schizophrenia mood disorders, characterized sample presence at least 2 years treatment disability. Generalized estimating equations used analyze levels admission upon discharge controlled confounding factors. increased significantly between patients. showed significant reductions compared both discharge. In addition, no difference patient diagnostic subgroups (unipolar depression, bipolar manic episode). The increase but non-restoration levels, even general improvement clinical scores, reflect progression disorder characteristically seen could considered as marker for nonspecific possibly transdiagnostic disease activity.
