摘要: Biodiversity is a mean and goal of sustainability should be preserved encouraged. In order to protect the agricultural sector in Europe stabilize farmers’ revenues incomes, starting from 1950s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) established subsidies regime. Typically, policy interventions may produce two undesirable outcomes: (1) distortion preferences, averting economic efficiency; (2) production concentration towards protected cultivations, so reducing biodiversity hindering activity. Under this perspective, policies evaluated terms their effect on biodiversity, trade-off between agriculture expected. This chapter investigates relationship six Italian “Objective-1” regions, finding negative quite stable correlation these variables. Recent CAP reforms aimed at market distortions through adoption “decoupled” measures, that supported activity regardless type crop produced are expected bring positive effects sustainability.
