摘要: Water of poor quality can directly impact the budget water available for key user groups. Despite this importance, methods quantifying on availability remain elusive. Here, we develop a new framework incorporating supply by modifying Supply Stress Index (WaSSI). We demonstrate usefulness investigating high salinity waters irrigation agriculture in Louisiana. The WaSSI was deconstructed into sectoral components such that total could be reduced particular demand sector (agricultural example) based information. results Louisiana highlight substantial impacts stress farmers attributable to landward encroachment saline surface and groundwater near coast. Areas coast also increased competition freshwater resources among industrial, municipal, agricultural sectors vicinities municipal areas Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, developed here is easily adaptable other concerns sectors, as serve useful tool managers.
