摘要: Globus sensation (globus) is best described asa constant feeling of a lump or fullness in the throat.Although etiology globus remains unclear, it hasbeen attributed to hypertensive upper esophageal sphincter (UES) resting pressure and togastroesophageal reflux (GER). The aim this studywas, therefore, determine if significant associationsexisted among globus, UES pressure, GER. We reviewed records all patients who hadstationary manometry over 21 -year intervalwith specific attention symptoms UESpressures, ambulatory pH studies. Patients with hypotensive ( 118 mm Hg). Seventeen ofthe 650 (3%) (16 women/1 man; mean age: 48, range 32-81years) normal globus. Conversely, 28of 101 (28%) (15 women/13 men; 43, 23- 61 years) withhypertensive There was asignificant association between hypertonicity UESand (χ2 = 93.42, P < 0.0001).In UES, occurred predominantly infemales 6.33, 0.01).Twenty-three women/7 23-60years) 45 had priorambulatory Six 23 (26%) Compared an age-,sex-, UES-pressure-matched group (16women/7 44, 22-75 withoutglobus, nine (39%) GER, thus showing no GER (P 0.35).There also withnormal these patients. In conclusion, there datasuggest two possible etiologies: female potentially having increasedafferent equal sexdistribution but abnormally elevated pressure. This study does not support as ofglobus.
