摘要: Abstract To study the adaptability of postpolio muscles, 12 subjects (mean age 54 years) participated in a high-intensity resistance exercise program. Seventy-five percent met criteria for syndrome. Isometric and isokinetic strength muscle endurance were measured. Polio-affected muscles identified biopsies. The biopsies also used measurements enzymatic activites histochemical histopathologic analyses. Pretraining values less than half those healthy controls, mean fiber areas twice oxidative enzyme activity was low. After training, significant increase isometric 29%) 24%) observed maintained some time. This demonstrates remaining already compensated from long-standing polio.
