Miniaturized integrated evanescent field IR-absorption sensor: Design and experimental verification with deteriorated lubrication oil

摘要: Abstract In industry, a vast variety of processes can be optimized by means online measurement chemical properties fluids in order to reduce costs maintenance or increase productivity as well production quality. Since the absorption mid-IR-region is powerful method determine composition fluids, we propose fully integrated sensor based on IR-absorption evanescent field region an mono-mode waveguide utilizing thermally generated and detected IR-radiation. For coupling, two grating couplers are employed, which couple broadband thermal IR-radiation into attenuated towards IR-detector, respectively. To achieve spectroscopic measurement, utilize dispersive feature coupler, couples IR-beams out at angles depending frequency. We report design infrared sensor, capable of, e.g., lubrication oil investigating absorption. Beside theory related optimum waveguide, discuss applicability proposed concept monitoring deterioration oil.
