摘要: Microscopy and PCR were compared for use in the diagnosis of post-kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) 63 patients. Aspirates lymph nodes (samples from 52 patients), skin (23 samples), bone marrow (18 samples) used. For 11 patients node aspiration could be repeated 6 months after they recovered PKDL. During active PKDL, was positive 42 (80.8%) aspirates 19 23 (82.7%) aspirates, whereas microscopy only 9 (17.3%) 7 (30.4%) aspirates. always when parasites seen by microscopy. When results obtained with same patient (n = 16) compared, there complete agreement. Bone samples negative 16 both methods 1 patient; one sample positive. confirmed co-occurrence visceral PKDL suspicion this other patient. After recovery, no found microscopy, but 2 (18.2%) still PCR. Thirty controls all to negative, 15 Cross-reactions Mycobacterium leprae ruled out. In conclusion, inguinal or is suitable confirming clinical some patients, are probably preferred because material may leave scars.
