摘要: The development of catchment-scale stream rehabilitation programmes in many parts the world marks a shift from application reach-based engineering principles towards an adoption ecosystem-centred, adaptive and participatory approaches to river management. From biophysical viewpoint, this represents recognition importance inherent geodiversity aquatic ecosystems benefits that are gained through enhancing natural recovery mechanisms. As approach management matures, it is important its key elements assumptions subjected critical appraisal. In paper, main features contemporary catchment-wide examined review pertinent literature examination various case studies North America, Europe, Asia Australia. Emerging challenges tensions include those generating authentic functional vision at catchment scale, developing proactive approach, achieving genuine community participation integrating social factors transdisciplinary framework. Issues variability complexity must be addressed meeting these challenges.
