摘要: The overall energy demand of data centers (DCs) is still rising dramatically. Since a DC’s cooling system (CS) large consumer, reducing its key element for improving the efficiency. Integrating an aquifer thermal storage (ATES) in CS can help cutting drastically. However, ambiquity about benefits and requirements operation ATES with exists, relating to technical as well legal aspects. Therefore, this article investigates prerequisites DC has fulfill integrate into CS. In addition, case study mid-size three different common German locations conducted determine energetic economic savings compared standard design. Using site specific (e.g., weather hydrogeological data), we showed that reduce CS’s drastically, depending mainly on underground structure. It was further shown be profitable some cases operators when efficiency programs government are used.
