摘要: The pattern of electricity consumption varies in the course a day, typically reflecting patterns human activity — high during day and low at night. This simple fact has fundamental implications on electric utilities business. Adequate generating capacity to be available serve demand peak periods, even though much this is idle periods (off-peak). In order cost-effectively varying demand, with both diurnal seasonal variations, use three types facilities: baseload, intermediate load, load plants. Baseload plants portion which present most time and, as such, they are designed operate constant level for year low-cost fuels, such coal nuclear, resulting operating cost. capital cost these is, however, high. On other hand, peaking that only about 10% time, have but costs. They rely primarily oil- or natural gas-powered units provide quick start capabilities. Intermediate meet daily implied by term “intermediate,” their sizes costs fall between those baseload units.
