摘要: is an acute, febrile, contagious disease caused by the Variola virus, which a member of Poxviridae family. Until 1970s, smallpox had been pandemic for more than 3000 years, endemic in tropical and developing areas periodically epidemic worldwide. The World Health Organization declared to be completely eradicated 1980 as result global vaccination efforts. At that time, all routine programs were terminated, given success this monumental eradication. Although remains fully eradicated, uncertainty exists regarding possibility recurrent outbreaks. end Cold War, concerns unstable international security feasibility terrorism with weapons mass destruction have highlighted. potential threat intentional release has forced regional health authorities reconsider their political landscape create preparedness plans protect community event biological attacks. Here we present current countermeasures Japan discuss methods strengthening public both domestically internationally.
