Candidal infections: Experience in a British dental hospital

摘要: Abstract Laboratory and clinical records for a period of 12 months were studied to determine the number patients investigated Candida-related disorder. Of specimens received from 146 patients, eighty-eight yielded Candida on direct culture further twelve isolations made Sabouraud's enrichment broth. Smears stained with periodic acid-Schiff reagent gave fewer positive results than culture. Denture stomatitis angular cheilitis most commonly encountered; 69 percent 77 percent, respectively, Staphylococcus aureus was isolated 28 cases cheilitis. Other forms candidosis less frequently encountered but more reliably Ninety-five anticandidal therapy, 56 showed improvement within 1 month; 13 treated required treatment year.
