摘要: This chapter asks the question: does dispersal in large mammals differ principle from that described small mammals? The subject has received limited treatment carnivores (Pusey and Packer, 1987) primates (Chapter 11), with a few exceptions (McCullough, 1985) is largely neglected ungulates. Since these species are visible well described, one would have expected phenomenon to be thoroughly documented; yet it not. I define ‘dispersal’ as one-way movement no predetermined direction population whole (Sinclair, 1986a). distinct ‘emigration’, which directional seen most commonly birds breeding temporary habitats; also ‘migration’, regular round trip within life-span of individual (see Chapter 1 for alternative definitions).
