摘要: In Ag2O-mediated benzylation, the addition of a catalytic amount KI can greatly improve reactivity. This is usually attributed to formation more reactive iodo-substituted electrophile. However, our studies show this be due enhanced basicity Ag2O through coordination soft iodide anions silver atom, and an initiator. A NaBr catalyze transesterification reactions, indicating by bromide. We believe that general effect for metal oxides anions, applicable wider range organic reaction systems.
