Practice of intensive care in rural Africa: an assessment of data from Northern Uganda

摘要: Although Intensive Care Units, ICUs, may be said to have started in 1953 Europe1 the great majority of hospitals rural sub-Saharan Africa no such facility and context working with major limitations financial human resources planning a this environment requires careful consideration. Life expectancy many parts is about 45 years equivalent 1840s England Wales. Medical care predates conditions not only before ICU Europe but even discovery anaesthesia2 where medical more limited than urban areas life figures must worse those published for as whole. A recent review Units less developed countries3 noted lack data available upon which organising developing world could carried out.
