摘要: The present TV whitespace networks rely on spectrum occupancy databases to determine their operating channels. In this paper, we show that such cause non-negligible wastage of spectrum. We also report channels can have very different quality due interference from secondary devices and the leakage broadcasts. Such disparity in channel is not captured by existing databases. propose use measurements overcome above limitations particular, describe a system called V-Scope leverages sensors public vehicles collect road. Based collected at 1 million over 120 square-km area, find commercial database causes under-utilization certain large area (up 71% measured locations). Our reclaim up 59% locations, correctly selecting all suitable 72 -- 83% achieving localization accuracy between 16 27m.
