摘要: Background: Sapovirus has emerged as a viral cause of acute gastroenteritis. However, there are insufficient data about the presence this virus among children with The present study aimed to evaluate sapovirus in gastroenteritis by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Methods: A cross-sectional enrolled 100 patients from outpatient clinics excluded bacterial pathogens and parasitic infestation. stool sample was collected each child for laboratory examination. Each subjected direct microscopic examination, rotavirus enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) remaining RNA extraction RT- PCR sapovirus. Results: most frequently detected ELISA (25%). RT-PCR 7% samples. were all rural regions presented mainly during winter season Egypt (42.9%). main presenting symptoms fever (71.4%) vomiting (57.1%). None had dehydration. Rotavirus significantly associated infections 5 (71.4%, P=0.01). There an insignificant difference between without regards (P=0.7), (P=0.46), abdominal pain (P=0.69). Conclusion: highlights emergence frequent pathogen children. is need national survey program other better management such infection.
