Study on performance management and application behavior in virtualized environment

摘要: Control theory has been utilized in recent years to manage the resources virtualized environment for applications with time-varying resource demand. The systems under control, including servers and applications, are taken as black-boxes, controllers generally expected be adaptive underline systems. However, little attention paid behaviors of themselves, most time, single performance target such mean response time threshold tracked. In this paper, we experimentally show that more than one metrics have considered characterize quality service end users receive when is managed through dynamic allocation. Moreover, behavior especially workload generators significant effect on service. Our study provides insights guidance end-to-end management problem environment.
