摘要: Glycoproteins are major components of secreted mucins as well membranes gastrointestinal mucosal cells. Both qualitative and quantitative differences in cell glycoproteins from different regions the colon have been suggested by histochemical studies. Glycoprotein alterations also reported human cancer. Since regional glycoprotein synthesis apparent rat small intestine, sugar content activities several glycosyltransferases glycosidases both proximal distal colonic sites were examined. Differences total hexose some found, indicating that metabolism between these two sites. These then considered relation to carcinogenesis induced 1,2-dimethylhydrazine. Significant galactosyltransferase observed uninvolved mucosa following administration this carcinogen. Furthermore, significant reductions content, three four glycosyltransferase hexosaminidases tumors. data indicate occur association with chemical tumors mucosa. studies emphasize importance considering quantity quality normal when studying pathological states.
