摘要: 1. Immunization of man with 0.03 to 0.06 mg. each the capsular polysaccharides pneumococcus types I, II, V, and VII, given in a single subcutaneous injection, has been shown be effective preventing pneumonia caused by these but not that due heterologous types. 2. Immunity appears within period 2 weeks following injection polysaccharides. Its duration was determined, although 6 months can set as minimum. 3. alternate subjects population reduced greatly incidence non-immunized. 4. The carrier rate for VII lowered significantly immunized group compared controls. It is suggested an over-all reduction carriers responsible rates pneumococcal non-immunized group.
