摘要: SUMMARY: Cadmium accumulation by a Citrobacter sp. growing in the presence of metal occurred as sharp peak during mid-exponential phase growth, but cultures showed considerable inhibition growth compared to cadmium-free controls. This problem was overcome pregrowing cells medium and subsequently exposing them resting state, under which conditions higher concentrations cadmium were tolerated uptake enhanced. ability retained when immobilized then challenged with flow containing Cd2+; 65% presented removed from solution. The influence on composition exposure buffer various cell treatments investigated results are discussed respect anticipated speciation also probable mechanism uptake. is thought occur through activity cell-bound phosphatase, induced pre-growth provision glycerol 2-phosphate sole phosphorus source. Continued enzyme function would precipitate phosphate.
