摘要: A potential association between abnormal electromyographic activity--that is, decelerating bursts and complex repetitive discharges--of the urethral sphincter difficulty in voiding was examined 57 women with urinary retention. Abnormal activity found 33. Ultrasonography of ovaries 22 33 showed that 14 had polycystic ovaries. Of other eight women, two oophorectomies, one shrunken ovarian failure, previously undergone oophorectomy ovary could not be seen; neither seen, three normal appearance, although these were taking contraceptive pill. Thirteen group endocrine symptoms signs characteristic syndrome. Videocystometrography 17 who by ultrasonography low flow rates high residual volumes urine after micturition 12 void, five having chronic speculative hypothesis for observed impaired voiding, sphincter, is advanced, based on relative progesterone deficiency characterises Progesterone stabilises membranes, its depletion might permit ephaptic transmission impulses muscle fibres giving rise to activity. This may impair relaxation resulting urine, incomplete emptying bladder, and, finally,
