摘要: The microvasculature of the eyes 5 rabbits was investigated using scanning electron microscopy on corrosion casts. study revealed that pars plana vessels draining blood from iris and ciliary body coursed directly into anterior vortex venous system constituting scleral plexus (the circle Hovius). episcleral vasculature found to possess a specialized morphology, with channels aqueous humor. capillaries third palpebral, bulbar palpebral conjunctiva formed single-layered capillary network approximately parallel epithelium well-developed in stroma. retina be merangiotic, meaning were present only small part retina, extending horizontal direction form bands either side optic disc. Channels representing veins drained mixed humor derive suprachoroidal space communicate via veins. functional significance iris, cilia, choroid is discussed this report as well. elaborate may prerequisite for exchange nutrients gasses between cornea across conjunctival when eyelids are shut during sleep, possibly dynamics eye drop delivery. analogous sinus (Schlemm's canal) rats, primates humans.
