摘要: Within a context of declining participation Year 12 students in higher education, the processes whereby young people make transition from high school to university or college advanced education was examined. A social psychological model academic attainment which linked origins experiences, perceptions others’ support, self-assessment, and aspirations results guided analysis. Access conditioned by class, sex, geographical location, effects were mediated type attended, perceived encouragement parents, teachers, peers, views own ability, career orientations, ultimately achievement.
