摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the corresponding information on protozoa in biofilms, such as their grazing rates, evidence of nutrient remineralization, and susceptibility to mesoinvertebrate grazing. Protozoan participation formation maintenance freshwater biofilms has received little attention even though it been estimated that 99% microbial activity is associated with surfaces. The behavior protozoan differs from planktons biofilm because different community structure biofilms. Protozoans exhibit a variety mechanisms capture prey, this led considerable diversification morphologies. However, for simplicity sake they can be divided into amoebae, flagellates, ciliates. In addition, close proximity components could lead increased levels cell–cell signaling interaction pathogenic bacteria. Only handful studies have attempted quantify impact these biofilm-associated but picture now starting develop, far complete.
