摘要: Increased trade in non-timber forest products (NTFPs) has been promoted as one possible means to slow tropical deforestation by increasing the economic value of intact forest. A market survey NTFPs occurring Capim River basin eastern Amazonia, Brazil demonstrated that reality for many smallholder communities frontier and remote regions includes chronic transportation difficulties, high variability fruit production, perishable lack expertise. In some communities, declining abundance due logging fire resulted a even meet subsistence needs. areas close cities where is assured clearing eroded natural occurrence valuable native NTFPs, smallholders who manage successfully medicinal species are overcoming these obstacles. undergoing rapid transformation, however, decline locally used regionally marketed currently pose detrimental consequences communities. Findings suggest an overemphasis on NTFP marketing diverted attention from local livelihood, resource access issues.
