摘要: Background: To examine whether the tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) gene, which codes for rate-limiting enzyme in biosynthesis of serotonin, may be a factor influencing serotonin turnover and behaviors controlled by serotonin. Methods: Using polymerase chain reaction—based method, TPH genotype was determined DNA samples from 56 impulsive 14 nonimpulsive, alcoholic, violent offenders 20 healthy volunteers. Results: In behaviorally extreme group, we observed significant association between cerebrospinal fluid 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) concentration. No with behavior detected. The polymorphism also associated history suicide attempts all offenders, independent impulsivity status 5-HIAA Conclusion: some individuals, genetic variant gene influence concentration predisposition to suicidal behavior.
