Novel microfabricated Pd-Au/SiO2 bimetallic model catalysts for the hydrogenation of 1,3-butadiene

摘要: Model Pd-Au/SiO2 bimetallic catalysts were prepared via a microfabrication method and their catalytic activity for the hydrogenation of 1,3-butadiene was compared with thin film catalysts. The microfabricated catalyst consisted Pd-Au squares various surface compositions, approximately 4 μm in size separated by on silica/silicon support. main advantage is that alloy formation guaranteed XPS results showed segregation occurred Au-rich compositions. apparent activation energies lower than pure Pd minimum occurring at ~ 65 at% Pd. catalysts, however, have fewer active sites, hence conversions are comparable. more samples, because samples evidence high degree sintering after pretreatment, unlike which did not occur.
