摘要: As climate change advances the date of spring breakup in Hudson Bay, polar bears are coming ashore earlier. Since they would have lost some their opportunities to hunt ringed seals from a sea ice platform, may be deficient energy. Subadult appear come before more mature individuals and earliest subadults beginning overlap nesting period large colony snow geese also occupying Cape Churchill Peninsula. The eggs these known eat could make up energy shortfall. earlier consumed during goose period, greater that is available. Recent studies shown annual survival rate for subadult declined contrast prime aged individuals. If this reduction related an increasing deficit, as suggested by some, consumption reverse trend help stabilize population, at least time. total number benefit resource will depend on temporal with foraging behaviors eating eggs. It likely other food sources play role if persist.
